A Second Take On “Awake”
April 29, 2008Awake was a wonderful thriller. It kept me watching every moment until the end. I really think this movie had a wonderful plot and was excellently performed. A lot of movies leave you hanging or with unresolved questions, but this movie did not. The cast was great. I give the movie 4 & 1/2 stars. This movie is worth owning (or renting multiple times). The all star cast gave it their all and it shows.

Below is some info on anesthetic awareness for those of you who were wondering.
Anesthetic awarenss is when not enough anesthia has been given to induce unconsciousness due to inexperience or ineptness. According to www.medterms.com, the frequency of this occurring is anywhere from 20,000 to 40,000 cases each year out of an approximate 21 million surgeries a year (The movie states 1 in 700). The drugs used for anesthesia can cover up any warning signs that the patient is waking up such as, an increase in heart rate or blood pressure. Because of this, research is being done with EEG’s to actually measure the brain activity itself, instead of relying on your anesthesiologist’s visual opinions of just how well you are actually doing.
